Every engineered mold made in Michigan that leaves American Tool and Engineering goes through a full inspection. It's not a quick once-over. Our quality control team checks each mold against detailed inspection sheets built for that specific type of tooling, and nothing ships until those sheets are signed off. A copy goes to the customer along with the mold, so you know exactly what was checked and confirmed before it arrived.
We don't run the same checklist for every mold, because not every mold is built the same way. Depending on what you've ordered, your tool goes through one of these:
- Water test / heat test, to confirm the mold performs correctly under real operating conditions
-Pressure form mold inspection, a 14-step process
-Blow mold inspection, a 15-step process
-Vacuum form mold inspection, a 13-step process
-Twin sheet inspection, a 15-step process
-Revised mold inspection, an 11-step process for any tooling that's gone through changes or rework
-Custom inspection sheets, built around specific customer or project requirements
Each of these was put together based on what actually matters for that type of mold, from dimensional accuracy to how the tool functions once it's in production.
At the end of the day, quality and accuracy are what we care about most. A mold can look right on paper, but until it's been tested and inspected the way we do it, we're not confident enough to put our name on it. That's the standard we hold ourselves to, and it's why customers come back to us project after project.
